Sprocket Combinations

What would be a good sprocket combination for a Ktm 300 xcw. I was thinking of a 13 front and 51 rear. What say you? Reasons?

That's what I run on my XC, although 1st and 2nd are taller (normal spacing) than the XCWs. It's good for trail, not for alot of high DS speeds (tops out at 100km). I also tried 50t (better for south side) and 52 (better for North side), so fell on 51t. However that may or may not suit your speed and style.

I currently run a 13T and 51T on my 450 exc and that combination is a beast for Calabogie. I call it my tractor. Just wondering if it is the same with the 300 xcw.

I think the stock gearing is 13 front, 50 years. I have had/still have several 300s and have always found stock to work great. Easy to loft front wheel due to amazing torque, and lots of legs for hustling down the double track ... Bill

Hi Tim,

I have a 2012 300 XC-W also and have the stock 13/50 gearing.
I just replaced it with the same this winter.

First gear is already low enough for me. Good for very very slow riding, but once I'm moving, I'm in 2nd or 3rd.
If you went with a 51 rear, I would think 1st would be unusable.
Unless you were trying to change the ratios in the upper gears, like 2 or 3rd.
