Nevada Dirt Bike Trip - April 2013

Hello Everyone,

I am helping to co-ordinate an off-road riding trip to Nevada during the first week of April.

We are doing this on the cheap. No fancy rooms, no fancy food. This trip is all about the riding. Our group riding level is from low-intermediate to advanced and almost anyone with a reasonable amount of riding experience can come. We have a very friendly and forgiving group.

A truck and trailer is taking all of our bikes and gear from Ontario to Nevada, and all of the riders are flying direct to Las Vegas to meet the bikes. Bikes from 250 to 530CC are well suited for this trip - that said, we had a 125cc bike last year that was absolutely fine. Blue plates and green plates are acceptable. The bike must have proper ownership paperwork to cross the USA border.

This will be a VERY INEXPENSIVE riding holiday and a once in a lifetime riding experience (the Nevada 200 Trail ride is invite only! - see below). We are planning on flying out on April 1st and riding 4 days around Las Vegas riding areas to get our legs under us, then trucking to Caliente just north of Vegas for the Nevada 200. We will spend 3 days there and then head back to Las Vegas to explore more desert, then fly home from Las Vegas on April 10th. It will be a great adventure!

Currently there are 9 riders booked and there are 3-4 spots left to fill. Email invites and message board posts are being sent to over 2000 Ontario off-road riders so these extra spots will go very, very quickly. We are filling the last open spots on a first come, first serve basis.

Last year's trip was an absolute blast with 4 SCORRA members enjoying the best in Nevada off-roading. There was a wide range of riding abilities and everyone enjoyed themselves. This year the group has 3 SCORRA members already signed up so the group will be sure to be a good one!

Here are the details.

WHEN

Riders fly in on April 1st, fly home on April 10th.

THE RIDING

A portion of the trip (and a huge highlight) will be an exclusive invitation to the Nevada 200 - a 3 day trail ride (not a race) that's invitation only. 200 riders riding 200 miles. The event is hosted by Scott Harden and Casey Folks and is a classy and really well run event. The Nevada 200 obtains exclusive access to huge tracts of private and public lands for this trail ride that aren't available to ride on at any other time of the year. If that wasn't enough, MotionPro and KLIM are some of the sponsors and also offer great savings on their gear (last year KLIM stuff was 50% off!).

"The Nevada 200 is considered one of the top trail rides in the US of A, but it's more than just a ride. It's an opportunity to take advantage of access to the Nevada wilderness that is normally reserved for Best in the Desert off-road races. It's a hell of a ride, and it's been fulfilling the lives of a few lucky off-road riders for over a quarter of a century. The story behind the 200 is that longtime friends Scot Harden and Casey Folks came up with the event as an excuse to get out of the office, return to their roots and hang out once a year in one of their favorite riding areas throughout the Clover Mountain Range outside of Caliente, Nevada."
