LAROSE FOREST DAY (September 25, 2010)

For a 3rd consecutive year, the United Counties of Prescott and Russell is inviting the population to attend its all-day community celebration day on Saturday, September 25, 2010. Numerous activities are scheduled, such as, a tour in the forest, history of the Grant Village, mushroom identification, bird watching, earth craft and face painting for the children. It will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Henri Latreille Shelter on Indian Creek Road in the Larose Forest. A beautiful family day!

TRAIL MAPS, ACCESS AREAS AND PARKING LOTS
A first parking lot, called P1 « Pine View » is located off Indian Creek Road, which can be accessed through County Road 5, exit 79 off Highway 417, Village of Limoges. You immediately end up in the oldest red pine plantation. The Grant cemetary can also be seem nearby with remnant of a community that had established there before the Larose Forest was created.

A second parking lot P2, « The Brook », is located off County Road 8, half-way between Bourget and Casselman. Look out for brown and yellow signs. Great red pines and a few swamps can be found nearby.

Tourist maps to explore the Larose Forest as well as the entire region of Prescott and Russell are offered, free of charge, in the forest’s public parking lots displays. They are also available in Travel Information Centres of the area and in several businesses such as restaurants, gas stations and convenience stores.
