from what i understand everybody riding a dirtbike in Limerick or anywhere requires third party liability . I have tried to explain this to my broker but he cannot get his head around it. I just need to know the particulars about the policy so Ican tell him what it is I need. Any info would be appreciated.

Liability insurance is necessary on public land (local, provincial or federal) that allows motorized off-Road (Green Plated) vehicle use. This does not exclude Blue plated vehicles in these areas as these are acceptable as well. Green plate and liability insurance is the minimum allowed.

Not sure how else to describe it??

Scroll down near the bottom of the linked thread and read Richard L’s post. Maybe that will help?

The motorcycle business is a fringe market for them to start with... and when you get into even more obscure sectors like off-road, vintage, etc. they often struggle. Also, it's very possible your agent doesn't have off-road specific insurance. Not everyone does and you have to shop around. Do not let them sell you a "street" policy...as the risks are not the same and they are generally much more expensive.

It is seemingly impossible to get off road liabiltiy insurance without having your M or M2 licence. If your house/car insurer does not offer it I believes your toast until you gets a M.
No matter what the offroad Act says, Insurers ultimately set there own rules and we are forced to play along :x
State Farm may be the best BUT that depends on the Agent and they need house and car to boot.

Ultimately GET YOUR M :?

I just got insurance for my bike last week at State Farm. Cost me just over a hundred bucks for the year, did not need my M license and did not have to transfer any other insurance over to them. All I have with them is my bike....give them a shout

What office did you use? State Farm's "policy" regarding offroad liability insurance seems to vary for each office.

thanks,

I am in the same position, trying to find an agent from state farm who does not want me to switch over home and car, as they are under a business plan and cant switch them.

Any contact info would be great.

Thanks

I got my insurance from the following company, when I called them they wanted to sell me street bike insurance, but when I went to their location they gave me off-road insurance with no problems. I don't recall the agents name so insist on off-road insurance cause not all agents are familiar with it.
