Black Bear Sighting - Calabogie

I was ridding near the Eagles Nest at the BMA North Side Orientation when I came upon a large black bear running down the trail in front of me. Thinking that it might not be a good ideal to catch up with him, I stopped and watched as it turn into the woods. It looked big, definitely bigger than me!

My revised list of possible hazards to this sport:

  • Hitting tree
    going over handlebars
    eaten by bear

Black bears are very common in the area the males are more scarred of you and will most likely high tail it off into the woods before you see them but if its a momma bear and has cubs don't get in between her and the cubs just remember if you see a baby bear chances are mom is near by (stop turn around and head the other way)
