Just traded my DRZ for a KLR for a little more " road worthy". Just wondering if anyone has any experience with these super tankers, and what are the good mod's? Anything will help! Its winter, gotta do sumptin...

Here is what I did on mine:

Aluminum Skid Plate (Essential for off-roading!)

Sub-Frame Upgrade Kit (Good to have for off-roading or carrying luggage.)

IMS Super Stock Stainless footpegs (Prevents you from slipping off in the mud! I waited too long for this one!)

Rox Pivot Risers 2" Rise (For a comfortable position riding standing up, as you probably should with a big bike like this!)

ProTaper Aluminum ATV Bend Mid bars (To do when you bend the originals!)

Barkbusters Storm Handguards (To protect your hands if you get too close to trees!)

Folding Dual Sport Mirrors (When you break the originals or when you find they get in the way... branches and what not!)

Michelin T63 tires with HD tubes (Knobbies and heavy-duty tubes are probably the first thing to do before going off-roading!)

I thought about crashbars, but I find they add too much weight to an already heavy bike! Yes, I have scratched and cracked my plastics, but I consider it the price of off-roading!

I find the bike to be at it's best when on winding roads (gravel that is!) or in dual track open trails.
