New Rider, Looking for some Info

I am just getting back into trail riding, its been about 17 years since I was last on a trail bike (and back then only had the pleasure to ride a few times).

So I decided to jump right back into it and picked up a new bike, got my green plates, going throught the insurance search.

If someone can guide me in the right direction to locate some trails around Ottawa that would be great. I've read that LaRose is not allowing trail riding and Limerick is another potential closure.

Where can i get out to ride the new bike? I am going through the process to become a BMA member and will def go on some of the beginner / novice rides, but hoping to go and ride for an hour or 2 here and there to get use to the bike before doing a half or full day ride?

I know trails arent posted but a PM to help a new / beginner rider out would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and looking forward to hearing from anyone!

Welcome back to the sport. You have taken the right first step by joining the BMA. This gives you access to our trail rides (first one on June 11) and, more importantly, contacts. If you watch this forum you will see that there is usually someone looking for riding partners on the weekend. There is also sometimes rides going on in the work week although I would never blow off work to go riding (ha!). Our main riding areas are Limerick and Calabogie. Haven't heard firsthand about the status is of Larose but Limerick, at least in the short term, will remain opened (loud bikes and irresponsible riders are killing us there). I might be riding in Limerick next weekend so if you want to hook up let me know and I will give you a tour.

I will be riding in Limerick Sunday May 28 taking some people around for a novice level ride (novice means reasonably competent on the bike but a very relaxed pace). Seems to be some new riders in the club so if you want a tour of Limerick now is your chance. 10a.m. at the pit. Call 613-774-2562 if you need more info or look for the beat up old blue Chev pickup with the (you guessed it) KTM beside. NO LOUD BIKES PLEASE.
