GPS Course

Hello All,
As discussed at the AGM, Dr. Dave has prepared "An Introduction to GPS" course that a small group test drove last week. He is now willing to offer it to members of the BMA if there is enough interest. There should be no charge but possibly a donation to the local food bank. I am looking for a suitable venue and a projector that will hook up to a laptop. The time and date have not been set as of this writing.
If you are interested or have questions drop me a line at glenandheather@sympatico.ca and I will get back to you with more information. Please pass this on to others that may be interested but may not see this on the forum.
Thanks in advance.
Coop.

Hi Terry,
I am going to work on a specific club member to see if he has time to do this for us. And yes it will be held locally. My thought was a session on suspension maintenance and set ups. Similar to the ones in Waterloo where you bring a lawn chair and some refreshments and maybe if all goes well we can expand it to other topics by other members who have expertise in certain areas that members show interest in. I will post more information when I can firm up a date and place for this. This all hinges on the club member being willing of course.
Coop.

Hi,

Where is the best place to buy a GPS and what type is best for off road riding? Is there a motorcycle kit too?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Skott,
You have some great questions. I think they might be better answered at this GPS course. This course has not had a date set as the instructor is a Professor and he teaches in the States. I will put you on my list and contact you when I have a firm date. thanks for reading this post.

Yes this will happen. I am waiting for the instructor to complete his commitment in the U.S.A. before we set a firm date. I am also trying to interest others in the club. So far this forum is the only vehicle I have used to advertise this course. I will have the opportunity on June 11, 2006 at the club trail ride in Calabogie to reach more members and mention this course. I will keep everyone who inquired about this informed when I have a date. Thanks for being patient.

GPScentral.ca is a real slick place to buy stuff , they sell ram mounts for every brand of units , the model i use is an etrex legend , it has survived a few thousand km's of trails on my bikes.

I've heard that they also offer a discount to OSDC members as well. Wouldn't hurt to ask if the same can be given to BMA or OFTR members.
